Our History

Who we are

Established in 1934 by a group of local businessmen to meet the banking and credit needs of the community, Union Bank of Mena now serves all of Polk County and surrounding areas with full service locations in Mena, Hatfield and Wickes. Established the same year as the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), Union Bank is a state chartered bank and regulated by the Arkansas State Banking Department, Federal Reserve Bank St. Louis and insured by the FDIC.

From humble beginnings in Mena, Union Bank has grown into a regional banking center that has served generations of loyal customers. Loyal customers who have helped build the legacy of the bank that’s served the community for 87 years. With the support of the communities we serve, the bank has grown to a team of approximately 60 people.

Supporting local businesses and many industries in the area such as manufacturing, tourism and timber with lending and support, the bank is also proud of its customer focused technology to ensure that business and individual customers have access to the best banking features available. Access to financial services for small business has always been a focus of the bank.

Throughout the history of the bank, we have always been a proud supporter of community activities and we continue to invest our time in our schools, businesses, neighborhoods and civic organizations. Employees, Officers and Directors often participate in activities that range from feeding our school’s athletic teams and participating in parades to buying animals at the Junior Livestock Auction, among other civic activities.

As we plan to serve our customers and communities over the next 87 years, we invite you to enjoy Hometown Banking At Its Best.
